Wave/Tide Monitoring
![]() |
The CCRU operated a network of 15 tide and wave recording stations in three Suffolk estuaries (the Blyth, Alde and Deben) over a period of 12 months in collaboration with University College London and under contract to the National Rivers Authority (now Environment Agency), Anglian Region. The monitoring involved the deployment of specialist field monitoring equipment; regular data capture and high-level numerical analysis of hydrodynamic data records.
The Suffolk wave/tide monitoring project was followed by a similar project on the Crouch and the Roach estuary in Essex, where 9 tide and wave recording stations were deployed for a period of one year, providing hourly water level data and three-hourly wave records.
